A Missing Heart by Shari J Ryan

Circles

A Missing Heart by Shari J Ryan is a heart wrenching contemporary novel about love and loss and family. It is the second book in The Heart Series but can be read as a stand-alone. The action follows on from the first book, A Heart of Time.

The novel alternates between present day and thirteen years earlier as the reader learns how hearts were torn apart. Sometimes in life we have no control over events as we are swept along and spat upon the rocks.

We all have a past. Our past cannot be changed. When we fail to reveal significant events in our past, they may come back to haunt us. Our past has helped to make us who we are.

There is the theme of PTSD. It does not just affect soldiers. It can strike after any traumatic event. It is important to receive support, love and seek professional help.

A Heart Of Time by Shari J Ryan

The Greatest Gift

A Heart Of Time by Shari J Ryan is a beautiful contemporary love story about a love that never dies. It is the first book in The Heart Series.

The book is a study in grief. “It’s [grief] like shrapnel in a wound… the pain will forever be embedded.” Grief is a pain that never goes away. It may diminish at times but then returns, twisting like a knife. Grief has no set formula or time. It is what it is. It lasts as long as it lasts.

There is the theme of organ donation. There feels like there is life after death as there feels like a connection beyond the grave as part of the person you loved is in another.

The greatest gift of all is the gift of life. There is a beautiful father-daughter bond within the novel. A father is not the same as a mother but the father goes the extra mile to make sure his daughter does not miss out. The daughter is wise beyond her five years. She senses great sadness, responding with love and wise words.

Unspoken Words by Shari J Ryan

Coming October 16th… A Teaser Now

Excerpt

The house in front of me was a vivid shade of blue—bluer than the sky but no darker than the ocean. The color reminded me of a blue-bird. The windows were framed with a shade of forest green, and there were two small windows on each side of the matching door. The roof was old and tattered, but supported the one lonesome dormer-window in the attic. The flower beds beneath the front windows were empty but I imagine they were full of vibrant blossoms in the spring and summer. Trinkets clung to the windows from the inside where a fire illuminated an empty table covered with a freshly prepared dinner.

I wasn’t standing in front of that house to admire the unique colors and decor.

They gave me a task.

Sven shoved his elbow into my side as he walked passed me, continuing down a line of Jewish men and women who were waiting for their next order. “Charlie, kill that woman. She is out of line,” Sven asserted his command with an authoritative intonation.

The Other Blue Sky by Shari J Ryan

Searching For The Way Home

The Other Blue Sky by Shari J Ryan is a heart wrenching tale of love and family, and overcoming evil. It is set in present day America and 1954 moving forwards to the present. The book follows on from Last Words but can be read as a stand-alone. I would recommend reading Last Words first so you can join all the dots.

The novel is about the search for roots. We all want to know where we come from. Without this anchor our lives may flounder as we feel like something is missing.

Secrets have been kept down the years. Secrets are locked away in hearts to protect loved ones. Secrets become heavy burdens that need to be shared or we will break.

A mother’s love runs throughout. It is a love that protects and nurtures. It is a love that is unbreakable. It is a love that holds on and a love that is needed when a heart is breaking.
