Healing In The Potter’s House by Lizzie Hunt

Never Alone

Healing In The Potter’s House by Lizzie Hunt is a powerful Christian allegorical tale that deals with grief. The author wrote it following the death of her husband.

Grief is a journey. It is a process. We may feel alone but Jesus walks beside us. We may not sense Him but that doesn’t mean He isn’t there.

This is a beautiful book. We ‘follow’ the author into a series of rooms where she meets the Potter, the Friend and the Prince Of Peace. Within each room, there are lessons to be learnt as the path of grief is trodden.

We see the importance of knowing the Word of God. “All those chapters and verses you have committed to memory are like a gold reserve in your heart.” When we are lost, lonely or afraid we can draw on the Word of God and we will be comforted.

Whatever we face in life we know “your Friend the Holy Spirit will help you.” We will never be left alone.

With grief comes many questions. We pray for healing but still our loved ones die. “I so wanted him healed.” We need reminding that when our loved ones stand with Jesus, they are healed and they are whole again, and one day we will be too.

There is the Japanese art of kintgugi where broken pots are mended with gold and are even more beautiful. We are reminded that our lives are like that – Jesus takes the broken pieces and mends them with His love, and we are even more beautiful.

Jackie 60 Years Of Magic

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Jackie 60 Years Of Magic is a must-have one off retro magazine for women of a certain age as we take a trip down memory lane.

I was one of the thousands of teenage girls who looked forward to my weekly copy of Jackie from the age of eleven. Jackie was the magazine for teens of my generation.

This publication takes a look back through the decades of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. It is like peeling back the years as we read of the latest trends, the pop idols, problem pages, storylines and much more. The only thing missing for me was … why were there no pictures of David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser?

My decade for Jackie was the 1970’s and it was a delight to re-visit my teens for a few hours.

At Home In A Book by Lauren O’Hara

A Pure Delight Whatever Your Age

At Home In A Book by Lauren O’Hara is the most delightful book suitable for anyone with a love of reading, an active imagination and who likes to escape into a book.

This is a unique book that takes several novels and illustrates the dwelling places – from houses to ships to submarines. It is a pure delight for the imagination.

Some of the books covered include Little Women, Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan, Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess and more.

Each chapter gives a short synopsis of the book, has a passage from it, writes about the lead characters and has a double page spread of the dwelling plus illustrations of key items within the story. It is a real treat to truly lose yourself in a book.

Within each picture there is the invite for the reader to step inside their imagination as we ‘wander’ through the dwelling. Each one has so much detail. I think that each time we re-visit the book, we will notice something different.

A Christmas In Prague by Helga Jensen

Wrapped In A Nostalgic Christmas

A Christmas In Prague by Helga Jensen is the most beautiful contemporary festive novel that I absolutely adored.

What is Christmas without snow? Helga Jensen takes the reader from rainy Wales to snow-covered Prague. Her delightful descriptions help the reader to ‘experience’ Christmas in Prague. It is a romantic destination with hot chocolate, a Christmas market and a fairytale castle. It is truly a magical place.

A character has been dreadfully hurt two Christmases ago. She has shut out Christmas but Prague is a place of healing and restoration as love and kindness thaw her heart and bring it back to life.

We ‘hear’ of a great love that was cut short. As the decades old letters are opened and read, we realise that true love never dies. It infects all those who are around as it comes full circle.
