The Road To Renewal Annotated by Kirby Lee Davis

A Rich Experience

The Road To Renewal Annotated by Kirby Lee Davis is a marvellous, updated edition of The Road To Renewal – but this is so much more! It is beautifully presented in a stunning hardback copy. The front cover is very tranquil, inviting the reader to step inside.

In this annotated version, the first two thirds are the story and the final third is the notes to accompany the story. We learn about the background to popular culture in the 1990’s and earlier as well as famous figures, biblical references and the author’s background and upbringing. It is all vey interesting and brings the story to life. Reading this version is a rich experience and one which I totally enjoyed.

I received a free copy from the author. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Here is my original review of the book:

A Royal Christmas by Melody Carlson

A Fairytale For Adults

A Royal Christmas by Melody Carlson is a delightful festive offering.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a charming new novella from Melody Carlson. A Royal Christmas is a fairytale for adults. It has all the elements of a traditional fairytale – a king, a wicked queen, a lost princess – and so much more, as we see God take centre stage.

We see that when all seems uncertain, we need to trust God.  We can trust His plans and His timing as He knows just what is needed and when.

Prayer is important. If in doubt – pray. If in celebration – pray. Pray at all times. God longs to hear from us. He will always answer. “You prayed about it?… It looks like God has flung the door wide open.”

The Last List Of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson

Beautiful

The Last List Of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson is the most beautiful contemporary novel that I just could not put down.

It was about love, life and friendship. Following the death of her husband of sixty two years, Mabel Beaumont is lonely but her life is about to open up in so many ways.

This is a book that celebrates friendship as four women, of various ages, enter Mable Beaumont’s life due to extraordinary circumstances. All have secrets. All are grieving something. All support each other.

We hear of lost loves, forbidden loves and family breakdowns. There are regrets. There are tears. There are chances to start again. Mabel Beaumont proves you are never too old to have a fresh start.

After The Snow by Susannah Constantine

A Fabulous Debut

After The Snow by Susannah Constantine is a marvellous debut historical novel that totally enthralled me.

The novel is set in 1969. It is a bygone era (although part of my childhood!) and set in Scotland with the snow on the ground.

We follow two eleven year old girls who are friends. One is the daughter of an earl and the other lives in the gatehouse. We see the action through their eyes. There is an innocence to the proceedings. The reader can clearly see the affair between two characters but the girls are oblivious.
