The Yellow Lantern by Angie Dicken is a Christian historical crime novel that has its base in fact. Angie Dicken has used her imagination to weave her marvellous tale.

The book surrounds the topic of grave robbing to serve medical advances. This was rife in the United States and England in the nineteenth century. The tale is set in 1824. It was a horrific practice from which the leaders of it became wealthy while the poor did the despicable acts. The Yellow Lantern is part of the True Colors Crime series.

There is the theme of trust. Trust does not come easy when it is the wicked who wield the power.

The Last Concerto by Sara Alexander is a marvellous contemporary novel about the all consuming passion for music.

The novel opens in 1968 and moves forward chronologically as we follow the life of a young pianist. The talent to create music lay dormant until it was awakened and then music took over a life. The desire and dream to create music takes the reader from Sardinia to Rome as we follow the passion. Music is more than just playing notes, it is putting your heart and soul into every piece. Music unites people.

Within the novel there are sacrifices to be made. Relationships fracture as the desire to create music is not understood.

Take It Back by Kia Abdullah is a fast paced contemporary crime thriller that will consume and horrify. Kia Abdullah is a fantastic author grabbing the reader’s attention from the start. She writes in such a powerful way that the storyline feels realistic and totally believable.

Set in multicultural London there are tensions within the local population which escalate during the trial. Hatred rises to the surface as revenge is sought.

Part of the novel is set in a courtroom. Here there is the question of trust. Who is telling the truth? Who is lying? How will the jury decide?

Waiting On Love by T.K. Chapin is a contemporary Christian novel about the power of love.

God’s love is the purest and highest form of love. He is steadfast, walking besides us through our highs and lows. God can turn around our worst times for good (Genesis 49) as He sends others to minister to us in our time of need.

Life does not always turn out as we dream it will but God is always faithful. Even when we make poor choices, God never leaves us.

T.K. Chapin is not afraid to tackle relevant issues. Within the novel there are the themes of alcoholism, adultery and single parenting. Through it all God never leaves us alone. He is there beside us, longing for us to return to Him.
