Delightful

The Interlude by Lin Stepp is the most delightful contemporary Christian novel and part of the Smokey mountain series. I loved it.

The Interlude is a book that you do not so much read as experience. I longed to jump inside its pages. With full descriptions Lin Stepp paints pictures of both landscape and characters enabling the reader to ‘walk’ through the novel.

The characters were wonderfully drawn with realistic flaws and hang ups. They are warm and welcoming, opening their arms to encompass the reader. We travel alongside them as their companion.

Do Your Best And Trust God For The Rest

Claire At Edisto by Lin Stepp is the most delightful and heart-warming Christian tale that will leave you smiling. It is the first book in the Edisto trilogy and I cannot wait for the next two books.

This is a beautiful family novel that deals with loss – a sudden loss that leaves a young widow with two daughters aged five and nine. These young girls are wise beyond their years. “Don’t cry to say goodbye to Daddy’s grave. He’s not there anymore.” Their faith is infectious and catching.

There is a refreshing and at times humorous honesty from the girls. They speak what is on their hearts. Lin Stepp has perfectly captured their innocence in her portrayal. I adored their interactions with the world around them.

A Very Austen Valentine by Various

Filling In The Gaps

A Very Austen Valentine is a delightful collection of six tales that are woven around Jane Austen’s Pride And Prejudice and Persuasion. Tales one and six have the characters from Persuasion. Tales one to five are based around Pride And Prejudice. Pride And Prejudice is my all time favourite novel so I am very familiar with the storyline. All the tales were warm and wonderful, and it felt like I was catching up with old friends. Did I have a favourite story? Absolutely. See if you have a favourite too as you take a trip down the years with some familiar faces.

I Dream Of You by Robin Helm continues where Pride And Prejudice ended. The focus is on Elizabeth and Mr Darcy now they are married. There were some delightful verbal volleys between the two in this charming tale.

Sir Walter Takes A Wife by Laura Hile is a really light hearted match making tale that has perfectly captured Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Mr Collins. An amusing and fun read.

Nuggets Of Wisdom For Life’s Journey by Marvin E Johnson is a powerful Christian book that contains bite size chunks of daily wisdom.

The book is set out over seven parts with seven (six in part two) daily readings to study and digest. Marvin Johnson covers numerous topics from God’s love to prayer, love, Ten Commandments, Holy Spirit, Jesus, Christmas, choices and much more.

The readings should get you thinking about God and your relationship with Him and your life choices. On some there are questions for self-examination.

Marvin Johnson’s style is easily accessible for all. It feels like nuggets of wisdom from a dear friend rather than daily readings.
