The Battle Continues

The Assault is a Christian supernatural suspense that will have the reader on the edge of their seat. It is the second book in the Harbingers series. I would recommend reading the first book Invitation as the action continues from there.

Once again the book has four unique stories with the focus on four different lead characters. Each story is written by a different author – Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt and Alton Gansky – but they follow on chronologically.

The fight against the forces of evil continues. Life is so much more than we can see. When we feel overwhelmed by things we cannot alter we need to remember “God wins in the end.” The battle is not ours but the Lords. “Oh, Lord Jesus, don’t let ’em win.” God is on our side. The question is, are we on His?

It is important to listen to the voice of God. “God desires slaves; you deserve freedom.” This is the voice of the enemy. It reminds the reader of when Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days and the devil tempted Him. We must keep our focus on God.

When we face our fears, we are calling not only on our faith in God but on our own inner reserve. “Bravery is defined by what you do, not what you feel.” There are times when we really have to ‘do it afraid.’

There is power in numbers. When we join with others to fight against evil, we are stronger together than alone. The unique bond of friendship is shown within the novel.

The Assault is a gripping read, terrifying at times. Do not read it alone nor at night!

A marvellous series. I cannot wait for book three.
