Puzzle House by Lillian Duncan

The Heart Of God

Puzzle House by Lillian Duncan – oh wow what an amazingly beautiful and heartfelt novel about life, love and the heart of God. Puzzle House contains scripture and shows how we can apply it to our lives. The Bible is our instruction manual for life here on earth. Of all the novels I have read (and I have read a lot), Puzzle House has something extra special about it – an ethereal calm that can only come from writing inspired by God.

The novel shows how life is like a puzzle, made up of moments that fit together. “We only get to live our life one piece at a time.” Life is not always good but “the ugly pieces were just as necessary as the pretty pieces.” When life is hard, we need to trust that God is still good.

The Elusive Miss Ellison by Carolyn Miller

Wonderfully Refreshing

The Elusive Miss Ellison by Carolyn Miller is the most delightful Christian historical romance. It is a debut novel  and the first in the Regency Brides series which promises to be wonderful.

The novel is very reminiscent of Jane Austen’s Pride And Prejudice, my favourite read, with prejudices and misunderstandings as well as the desire of mothers to make good matches for their daughters.

Carolyn Miller has drawn some wonderful characters. Her heroine is a very modern lady for 1813, with a social conscience. Her forward thinking enables children to be educated. She gives of herself both physically and materially. Her heart rules her head in matters of the poor.

A Christmas Calling by Chris Cottee

A Day Of New Things

A Christmas Calling by Chris Cottee is the most delightful Christian Christmas offering that will warm your heart and soul.

God is at the centre of the novel. God waits patiently for each and every one of us. “God saves people one at a time.” He sends people across our paths to help point us to Him.

No one is ever too young or too old to be used by God. “God wants to talk in your ear.” When God speaks, we would do well to listen. There is a yearning in our souls that only God can fill.

The novel is about an awakening. An uneventful life plus a chance encounter changes life forever. It is as if the character just slept through life but can now begin to really live in the twilight years.

The Oregon Pursuit by Jenna Brandt

Coming Full Circle

The Oregon Pursuit by Jenna Brandt is a Christian historical romance. It is the fourth book in the Window To The Heart series but can be read as a stand-alone. The beginning of the book recaps the action in the previous books so there are no gaps for the reader.

The Oregon Pursuit has a wonderful, warm feel to it, with the action being set around a bakery. Mouth watering descriptions really tantalise the reader’s taste buds.

The leading lady is refreshing with her big heart, her love for God and yet a very modern outlook on life for the 1870’s.

The novel is about family. Family pull together. Characters attract others to the family of God as they shine His light in dark places.
