Christmas On Madrona Island by Andrea Hurst

A Festive Miracle

Christmas On Madrona Island by Andrea Hurst is the most delightful Christmas novella. My first book by Andrea Hurst but I shall be reading more.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. A community that knows how to celebrate Christmas and how to support each other.

Wonderful traditional elements of food, trees, families – and over it all, a covering of love. The warmth just radiates out from the pages of the book.

I loved the inclusion of animals. They help to turn a house into a home.

Christmas is a time of memories, both making them and looking back. It is a bittersweet time as we remember those who are no longer here. It is also a time for children.

Hearthland Vol 1 by Chautona Havig

Warm, Witty And Wonderful

Hearthland part 1-6 by Chautona Havig is a delightful Christian contemporary story with a wonderful, warm community feel to it.

Life is for living. “You need to go where your soul can be still and know God.” Too many of us are in the rat race. We need to make time for life and for God. “I need to remember the sounds of a baby’s giggle.” We need to slow down and live the life around us and not keep chasing the next thing.

The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller

Choosing To Praise

The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller is a delightful Christian romance. It is the second book in the Regency Brides series and I absolutely loved it. It can be read as a stand-alone but I enjoyed catching up with familiar characters. The book is a blend of Jane Austen meeting Daphne Du Maurier with a fabulous plotline, wonderful characters and compulsive action – including duels, liaisons, love triangles, class snobbery, jealousy, adventures – a perfect mix to capture the reader’s attention and imagination.

The leading characters are unique. Both having their strong traits interwoven with insecurities. Life in 1814 demanded social conformity. The hero and heroine defied conventions, being forward thinkers with hearts for the poor and marginalised. The hero was a forward thinker embracing new ideas in agriculture and road building.

Almond Street Mission by June Foster

A Soldier For God

Almond Street Mission by June Foster is a perfectly wonderful Christian contemporary novel that has its focus on the plight of the homeless and God’s love.

God’s love is for everyone. There are no exceptions. “I’m not good enough for God.” The bad news is, no one is good enough for God. The good news is, God’s grace covers us all.

The homeless are often ignored, or worse, abused. People look past them but God sees each and everyone. “Each one was an individual valuable in God’s eyes.” We all have a unique story and all fit uniquely into God’s plans.
